who the hell are you?
Born and raised in Brooklyn to Cuban-American parents, I grew up naturally refining my taste for bagels and cortados (it was actually mostly fish sticks though...90's child). I did my undergrad at Tufts University in Boston in International Relations. After working with the Pulitzer-prize winning team of VII Photo, I found myself working as a freelance photojournalist for the United Nations. Based in Rome, Italy, I traveled from place to place uncovering stories: lack of access to pain medication, a country opening after decades of isolation, a country recovering 20 years after a genocide, and teen pregnancy. Kenya, Burma, Thailand, Rwanda.
But, my experiences around the world as a photojournalist were only the beginning. Two things happened to me while based in Rome.
1. I fell in love.
2. I was hit by a car.
so how the hell did you end up photographing weddings?
Two accidents, one happy and one not-so-happy, inspired me to start Wilde Scout. From the experience of finding my life partner and losing all my images from one of the most transformative periods in my life, I realized how fleeting our lives can be. At the end of the day, photos are all that we are left with. The images of our days stimulate our memories.
I never thought in a million years I'd be doing wedding photography. What started out as an experiment and the epitome of ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ has become a passion and my calling. I know that sounds cheesy, but it is TRUE. I am truly at my happiest when I am following you around on wedding day, kicking it with your bridesmaids and dancing around grandma breaking it down on the dance floor.
If you are getting those warm and fuzzy feelings inside, hit me up and see if we are a fit! Coffee is on me.
